The Mt. Shasta Hillclimb
Start time is 11:00 am
at The Fifth Season. The hillclimb heads east up Everitt Memorial Highway for 14 miles to the old Mt. Shasta Ski Bowl site on United States Forest Service property for 4,100 ft of elevation gain (3600-7700’). Note: dependent upon road conditions, the course may be extended 1,600 ft with an additional 110 ft of climbing. Average grade is 5.5% with sections at 7%. Pavement is smooth. Expected Weather Conditions: September mornings are cool in Mt. Shasta City (40-60° F) and temperatures at the finish can be in the 30’s. Bring cold weather riding gear for the descent. Put your clothing in a plastic bag with your name on the bag as a vehicle will transport the clothing to the finish line.Mass start
limited to 200 riders. Racers are to carry their own fluids/food and repair kits. No outside support is allowed along the course. There will not be an aid station. Spectators wanting to watch the finish line, are requested to be en-route prior to the race start.Entry Fees:
$20 - Racer with USCF License.
$30 - Racer who needs one day USCF license.
$10 – All Junior riders age 17 and under (includes one day USCF license for insurance).

Mt. Shasta City is located 60 miles north of Redding on I-5. Take the Mt. Shasta Central Exit 739, proceed 1/2 mile east up Lake St. to the Fifth Season Store @ the corner of Mt. Shasta Blvd and Lake St.

There are public restrooms and drinking fountains across the street from The Fifth Season. These fountains receive untreated water from Mt. Shasta springs. Extra port-a-potties will be located at the start and finish.
Awards: No awards or prizes. There is a raffle and $100 purse to the first rider to break the 1 hour mark.
