Does anyone know the approximate elevation of the finish at Pine Flat? I am assuming it's close to 2,000 feet? The Fresno NWS is forecasting low snow in the surrounding foothills on Sunday morning. If this happens, any guesses on what would happen to the race (or at least the finish)?
DEEP MOISTURE PROGS WITH THIS SYSTEM ARE NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE. BUT THE VERY COLD AIR ALOFT WILL PROVIDE AMPLE INSTABILITY FOR A GOOD CHANCE OF SHOWERS ACROSS MUCH OF THE FA. STILL EXPECTING SOME VERY LOW SNOW LEVELS SAT NIGHT/EARLY SUN MORNING...THOUGH LATEST 12KM NAM IS BACKING OFF A LITTLE. BASED ON CONSISTENT GFS RUNS WOULD EXPECT SNOW LEVELS TO FALL AROUND 1500 FEET OVER THE SOUTHERN SIERRA. ALSO...STILL THINK WE MAY SEE SOME LIGHT SNOW DOWN TO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE KERN DESERT FLOOR...AROUND 2500 FEET. THIS WOULD PLACE THE PASSES OF THE TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS BELOW THE SNOW LEVEL WITH SOME ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE BY SUNDAY MORNING.
