Thanks for your patience about Tam, it's taken the past week to get everything sorted out. Here's an update, just heard back about the refund process which was the last loose end.
RESCHEDULING - we just don't have time to reschedule the race this year so the 50th will happen in 2012. Some of the five permits we need have long lead times and given how late in the season we are, it's just not realistic for 2011.
REFUNDS - USA Cycling has come through with the refund side of it - they'll be processing refunds for all the online pre-registrants. That will save us a lot of work so big thanks to USAC on that one. You may be getting an email from them about this as well, let us know if it hits any snags.
OUCH - As a club we took a big financial hit from the cancellation because we had a lot of costs that have to be paid, even for not-running the race. The good news is, as a group we've been running this race a long time and had built up a rainy-day...make that, sunny-day fund to cover exactly this scenario (we don't typically profit from this race, money from it goes back into the event). So the race will be back in 2012 and we should be able to keep the same entry fees, though we'll probably be looking for some sponsors to help out a bit.
SHINDIG? - with another year, who knows, maybe we'll even get together a 50th post-race bash at Stinson. We have a do-over, might as well make use of it.
