This Sunday's Vacaville Gran Prix will be a Times-7 event - that's the chip-based timing system that NCNCA purchased and started rolling out earlier this year. Several officials are being trained on Saturday in the use of the system and they and Times-7 staff will be at Vacaville to make sure it all runs smoothly.
If you received your timing chip already earlier this year, we have your chip number on record. Bring it to the race and be sure your mounting bracket is in place on your fork. If you need help with setting it up, several people will be at registration (along with spare mounting brackets). Lost your chip? Please let us know - the first one was free and a replacement chip is $30.
Any Category 1,2,3,4 racers who didn't receive their chip yet will be issued one at the race.
Keep in mind that these are permanent chips, tied to your license number, and your first chip is paid for by NCNCA. The system is not currently used at Cat 5 events, but we expect promoters will be using the system a lot more next year as long as this training and Vacaville go as planned.
Please allow a little extra time to register, and email me if you have any questions: tborek at ncnca.org.
ps sorry for late notice, please get the word out!
