Who's your favorite local race announcer?

Hey all! I'd love to hear some feedback on race announcers in the district. Who's your favorite? Why? Do you think a race announcer adds value to a race? Value for the racers or the spectators or both?

I have not been around long enough to know the announcers by name. But races that have a funny, informative announcer are MUCH better than those with no announcer or someone who provides only basic information. I also think it's good when the announcer explains tactics for people who are watching, but not racers and don't understand what they are seeing.
Last season the races that I specifically remember the announcers being good were Cherry Pie, Chico Downtown Crit and Lodi Crit (not sure if it was the same person, or different people doing those three races). The guy at Merco was not quite as funny, but very informative.
a couple other great announcers are tom simpson and dave towle
Briggs Heaney, Hernando & Jess all do a great job & make racing more fun.

+1 Hernando
Being shamed at the Chico Crit was one of the highlights of my season last year. The Friday Night Track 'mentions' are practically a right of passage.
I totally agree, Jeff. Jess' music rocks. If only he'd just shut the hell up so we could listen to it in peace.
Jess' music is excellent. First time I've ever heard John Hiatt played at a race. (just one example of MANY)

Jess has some good skills. Besides, who else has more music that you've never heard before? :)
Best Hernando line I can remember, "they're strung out like heroin chic!" Only made funnier by my friend who thought he said, "they're strung out like heroin sheep."

He knows the racers, racing, give exciting play by play/commentary, he's entertaining and never at loss for words!
.
Eddie Zhang: he's knows the riders, got the words to describe the action, lots of energy
