Hey forum moderator! I've noticed that everyone now has a "cat" associated with their profile. What's that all about?

Not quite. I still have 5 more to go.
With all of your posts would you now qualify as an "uber"?
Forgive me for all the posts done lately. I'm just trying to upgrade, and hopefully the topics were worthy of the forum. This one isn't.

I am only use the features of the forum software which in it's basic form only let you pick a threshold of number of postings for different rankings so George's suggestion is not something I can do easily but you have given me some ideas for stuff I can do. :)

Too funny! So, if people keep replying to my post, I'll cat up?
Bulletin boards are for announcements = no replies
Forums are for discussions = multiple replies
I think this is a bit of both (as are most forums these days).

Just a thought:
Perhaps topics that result in multple replies should hold more "status" than the zero reply ones that sometimes are introduced. One could earn an additional point for every three responses from their posts, for example. Afterall, no discussion means no forum, doesn't it? 8)
I hope to see some folks get to cat 1 status!
I'll have to stop posting so I can be the sandbagger I truly am!
Thanks for explaining. I thought I was crazy!

Now we will have a bunch of people posting a bunch of silly stuff just so they can get their Cat 1 status
It's just a silly way to differentiate how often folks have posted to the forums. The Cat is based on totally arbitrary numbers that I made up with everyone starting at Cat 5 and going up based on the following scale:
Cat 4 10 posts
Cat 3 100 posts
Cat 2 200 posts
Cat 1 500 posts
I also enabled avatars so if you want to upload a small picture it will be displayed by your postings and in your profile.
