Cal Aggie Race
FYI
Please suggest to your women cat 4 racers
to pre register this event (looks like sunny skies).
This is a great early season opportunity for cat 4 women
to race their category. Registered numbers are important
in this situation. Otherwise, their field will be combined with the
women 123 racers.

And if it stays a women cat 4 race, it will be mentored.

Please support your category women and pre register.

Just got word from Bruce Finley,
the Cal Aggie Official, saying he supports
two fields; the pre registration numbers look good.
He is very supportive about w cat 4 racers getting
their own field. We are blessed to have such
responsive and supportive officials, and promoters.

I want to thank the women who support pre registration
for this race. Registration closes 1-29-09. You still have time
to register and not get stuck paying extra fees.

If you take a look at the past few years of results,
you will notice the women's fields were combined.

Not sure if there was an option to register for separate
fields though, can't tell.

So I see it as a generous option Cal Aggie is providing a separate
field for the wcat 4 racers. They get there own field.
And it would also be nice to see the pre registration
numbers swell, so the upper category racers have an idea
about our race day, too. Why not preregister? The Cal Aggie club is
providing two separate fields for women to race, when in the
past it has only been one. Why not support the club?

It is easy to support the registration. Yes we may change our minds,
fall ill, bad weather or what ever; the bottom line is that we are supporting a bike club who is supporting women racers.

I hope both upper and lower category women take a few minutes, pull
out their bank card and preregister for this early season race. I am appreciative we have an option for two separate fields. Also, many of us have a drive to get to Sacramento, it would be nice to know ahead of time how the situation pans out. 20 women preregistered wcat 4
and 20 women preregistered women c123: may hold it to two fields.

And two separate fields is what we want, right?

Let's work together to make it work for us women.
respectfully,
Laurie Fenech

it looks like this won't be an issue then as there are more than 4 per field already and no other minumum was set

but, regardless, let's all get out there and race!

Per the rules a promoter can't combine two races based on pre-reg unless that was stated in the race announcement. Under the rules a promoter can only combine groups if one group fails to meet the default Min field size by the close of registration ( which is normally 15 minutes before the scheduled race start time).

The Default min field size for a mass start race is 4 riders. So if 4 riders are entered by the close of Reg then the promoter's hands are tied and they have to hold the race as advertised. In the race Ad the promoter can state a higher min field size in order that the race not be cancelled or combined but again that has to appear in the original race Ad that is published.

Are there more details available on this?

This decision is being made based on pre-entries?

How many do they want to have separate fields?

They have 2 separate time slots currently for the 1/2/3 and cat 4 women. So, to combine them, they would have to run them at the later time. Is this so that they can put another race in the first women's spot? While the 1/2/3 women who didn't know about this wait around an hour?

I am now less inclined to pre-register for the women's 1/2/3 field as I don't plan to race if it is combined.

I'd ask the cal aggie promoter to commit to the two women's fields.
