USAC sued by former CEO

An interesting story on the Velo News web site at http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/11178.0.html about the law suit Gerard Bisceglia is brining against USAC and Jim Ochowicz. This could be interesting if it goes through a full court trial.

Maybe we should chip in and buy the USAC board a Nolo Press book about nonprofits. That transaction is the definition of a conflict of interest. Great, Och needs to make a living and all, but when you're getting $20k from a USAC sponsor it's going to affect your "director" opinion about that sponsor. So do what every non-disinterested director does: disclose it and don't vote on it and everybody's happy. It sounds like this isn't done despite conflicts across the board. Pun!! Unclear whether it has a bad effect at the end of the day, though it fails Governance 101.
The B suit sounds like sour grapes though, attempt at getting some $$ after getting canned. I'd look at it differently if he'd dug in in 2004 to defend the sanctity of USAC's board, "clean this up or I'm out of here."
I just love seeing more legal fees paid out of USAC's checking account. Tho when you think about it the legal process is a big part of high level cycling so we might as well get used to it with USAC. And it gets our U23s warmed up for UCI life to see this legal bickering. Some say the grand tours eventually won't even be raced but litigated in court instead...with their Puerto file closed will Ivan or Jan prove he "would have won" and ride the prologue in yellow in 2007? heh heh...

Kind of a good example of why their concern for us down here at the local level seems to be non-existent.
