I was mentoring and unable to get an update. But I sure hope she sticks with it.

was this the women from Sac?

Was this the women from Sacramento? I was right behind a crash in the womens field that day (Jan 15th, yes?) and stayed with a dazed rider until the FD arrived... had no idea that she had a cervical spine injury. She remained in teh road, the other rider involved moved off to the grass on the shoulder?

This the same person?

If so, very scarey.

Even if it wasn't the same person, very scary.

update on women's EB#2 crash

the girl who crashed after hitting dots was discharged from the ER (i believe with just a broken clavicle).

girl #1 crashed right in front of girl #2, who therefore could not avoid crashing. unfortunately she was severely injured. she has three cervical spine fractures, including one at C3 which usually causes complete paralysis. call it a miracle/good luck/whatever, but she is still not completely out of the woods.

she is, however, doing well in that she has a remarkable spirit and attitude, and is looking forward to the day she can get back on the bike -- but understandably she will not do any more crits. since the crash she has been nearly immobile, in a neck brace, and unable to leave the house. she has an appointment today which will hopefully give the O.K. to do such simple things as riding in the car, or watching a bike race :)
