Is there any available video coverage of the Giro?
Thu, 05/10/2007 - 1:51pm
I remember getting an Italian language channel on Comcast a few years ago that carried it.
Does anyone have a lead on a way to view the Giro in our area?

Someone can try to work a deal with cycling.tv to have local coverage of US local races as a separate channel kinda liks Versus but proceeds will support US development teams (men and women).
Olaf and Jess can have their chance...
I would subscribe to it.
The cycling.tv guys aren't bad and if you have been listening to them for awhile, you start to pick up on their personalities and the way the interact with each other which can be fun. That being said, I would give Jess and Olaf a chance too!

At least Al Trautwig isn't involved. Maybe next year we can get Hernando and the Jesster in the booth?
Thanks for the correction...I just realized that yesterday after I bit the bullet and paid my dues to watch the race...
Apologies for the incorrect info.

The link above doesn't work. This is much better (you'll need Windows Media Player installed):

Click on "LA VIGILIA - 11/05"
OLN/VERSUS (Phil and Paul as Commentators) have partnered with cycling.tv and is now showing the feed for a fee on cycling.tv on the web. You can see the re-runs the next day.
OLN/VERSUS also shows highlights on Sundays at 2pm for all the stages.
I am not sure if they are still doing the daily coverage, morning, afternoon and night just like how they did for Tour de France. That would be great.
For the last few years I have ordered the RAI channel on Comcast. $4.99 for the month or something like that. Awesome.
Daily live coverage every morning, plus recaps later on, interviews etc (ok all in Italian, but you saw Breaking Away, right?)
Just a fantastic thing and if I wasn't headed overseas for two weeks I'd be on it daily.
For the language challenged I think OLN (Vs., whatever) may also offer a paid live feed online but there's no commentary, italian or otherwise, if I recall right.

This page contains details of the Giro, pretty comprehensive.

RAI will have live coverage in Italian (see the link provided on the site above). It's a free feed but available only in Italian.
If you want to pay, cycling.tv will give you daily live web coverage.
Vie! Vie!
:D
Some have recommended cable TV coverage via RAI, but ... Check the RAI program guide before subscribing!! I saw only 90 minutes on the first day of the Giro and nothing more.
