“And on a cold crisp day, champions of the golden state came together, but only one region claimed the glory…and their passion for the sport know as cyclocross”

A no hold’s barred, region take all one day cross race. Nor Cal vs. So Cal….bring your strong, your masses and race for the title. The region with the moist points from ALL races takes home the state championship 6’ foot tall trophy, bragging rights and the title. Points will be taken on the top 50 riders in each race.

The toughest ever….A classic European style course, over 3.5k long. Fast with a long paved start, dirt and grass. Average lap time is 9-12 minutes. There are 2 “run up” sections, an 80 meter MONSTER of a climb, 2 road sections and the rest is dirt and grass and a fly over ramp. The course is very fast, very wide and very fun. In the event of heavy rain, expect VERY sticky mud and epic conditions. The course will be set up by 2pm Saturday January 15th. if you wish to pre-ride or practice. Watch the forecast. Warming up on the course: Warm up before racing begins, on a trainer or on the road. If you wish to ride the course you must wait until the first rider of a particular race finishes and not pass other riders racing. Do not interfere with other races and exit the course immediately if another race is approaching behind you. Check with officials before entering the course.
Helmets must be worn at all times when you are on your bicycle. Cyclocross bikes recommended but mountain bikes work great! You must remove your bar ends. Bike and wheel exchanges may be made in the one and only pit area which will be marked. Bike wash will be available if needed. If lapped, all riders will finish behind the leader on his or her lap. Numbers are to be placed on the left side, left rib area and well pinned. Numbers should show well and be flat when in the “on the bike” position.

For those looking for weekend plans and or a race on Saturday, check out the Rio Bravo Rumble Mountain Bike Biathlon, Saturday January. A VERY challenging event and fun lead up to our race!

A big thank you to Keith Defiebre of the CCCX series for moving his race date in support of this event. Check out one of his awesome races and series, thanks Keith!

It’s back, bigger and better. At the conclusion of the last race, while we tabulate results (and before the trophy for the state champs is awarded) ANYONE can take to the line for the chance to win $100 cash! Way atop the hillside will be an orange flag and a bell. Hanging from it will be a crisp $100 bill. First one to the ring the bell gets the cash…you gotta start and finish with your full sized bike!
