I want to take a min to respond to the post. First I would hope that the comment about being shady was not though out.

We have always looked for a better way to open and close registration for events. We set the standard for using EST and have used that for the past 7 years. We have and will continue to look for ways to use local time to open and close but we have not found a way as of yet that allows for all of the different issuse with regaurds to time zone, daylight savings ect.

We have worked extremly close with the NCNCA to make sure that the NCNCA site had all of the event that we do online for posted and reg links provide so everyone had a fair shot and getting into the field. Alec and Bill have done a great job in this respect and deserve a huge thanks.

We try and encourge all of the Event Directors to close registration at midnight on Thursday (Fri 3:00 EST). Event Directors using the tools that we contiune to upgrade and provide allow them to close registration closer to the event and still provide the kind fast and effective check in, better results, and quicker posting to the websites.

I agree. I missed out on Madera this year for that reason. The night before I saw that registration closed the next morning. When I went to register the next morning (at 5am no less) it was closed. Then I looked closer and realized my mistake. 3 AM easter time...
