"Showdown at Sundown!" Carrera de San Rafael
Downtown racing adds a little extra spice into a bike racer's schedule and this year's Carrera de San Rafael will have a heavy hand with the bottle of spices. With racing starting at 3:00 pm, giving our Juniors, Cat. 4's, Masters, Pro Women and Men a chance to race both at Infineon earlier in the day, and highlighting the evening with a 7:45 Pro Men start, Wil Mathews has dubbed the twilight 90 minute main event the "Showdown at Sundown" and podner, better bring your best saddle and boots.
We'll have 10 sets of portable construction floodlights to illuminate not just the 4 corners, but intersections and start/finish too. Downtown 4th St., the nexus of the Carrera, has an enormous variety of restaurants and cafes - ideal for racer and spectator. And, once the sun does go down, we'll start handing out "Glow-in-the-Dark" cow bells to make some Carrera noise.
One recent addition to our Juniors event - we'll be accepting entries for our youngest athletes and recognizing our U14 and U12 athletes on stage with medals and prizes to top 3 of each category. We're going to be working our judges overtime keeping up with the scoring for the 4 different age groups on course but it will be worth it to see the youngsters at the Carrera. More details coming soon but when registering please indicate entry for the U14 category.
Burlingame was the baptism of the Pilarcitos Starters Cannon - and you can bet they'll hear us in Novato when races jump off at this year's "Showdown at Sundown!"

It's hard enough encouraging competitors to get to your website - the very least we can do is give accurate directions. Thanks, Hans - those last 2 frickin' letters in the address seemed to have a life of their own. You should see my messages BEFORE I edit and correct!
