timeyourrace, gene redmond...this guy is efficient and very willing
to time your race...he is local, with great communication effort, and fair...
even though we offered preregistration, we had close to

2011 rockhopper race day information

racers,
thank you for pre registering and supporting
the monticello cycling club's
2011 rockhopper classic mtb cross country
race...it is gonna be one epic race with
weather conditions backing up the fun filled day..
our trail maintenance crew worked diligently
for the past two months, to smooth, clear and
create a safe course to raise your mtb standards;
ability and skill. hope you are fit!

a reminder to your friends who are on the fence about registering:
our pre registration closes tonight, may 5th at 10:00pm.
we will charge an additional $6.00 late fee (on race day). you can
purchase a one day license at registration ($5.00) and remember the
park entrance fee is an additional $3.00 (please bring the
extra bucks)...

the race course is just burning for action! most
of the course has been manicured for maximum
brrrraaapage! that being said our course has a lot of
fun narrow single track. please be courteous to faster
racers. if someone is on your tail, find a safe place to
let them pass even if that means a slight stop for you.
it only takes a fraction of a second out of your run but
can save some road rash. the course will be marked by friday
night. and yup, we are keeping our love for the sport including
taking pride with our course character...so,
keep an eye open for there are some tricky sections on our course.
watch for the red arrows. one arrow is for direction;
two arrows mean use caution and three arrows mean
a very tricky section and precede with extreme caution.
please ride within your abilities and if you're not sure if
you can ride the section safely get off your bike and walk.

along with the freakin fun course, your fee includes a lunch,
provided by our local restaurant, el patorn (lunch coupon in
schwag bag), and a generous huge raffle valued
over $3,000.00, mike posey as our mc. Our sponsors, specialized,
mykes- velo city, vinnie's,-velo wrench, ray's cycles, trek, mariani nut,
cytomax, brubar and jelly belly have generously offered some great
gifts, s works helmets, wheel set, frs, gloves, tubes, elecrolytes, tires
and energy bars...you will get one free raffle ticket, in your schwag bag,
and we are selling raffle tickets for $1.00 each (at registration table).
for raffle prize, you MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. so stick around.
the raffle will take place during the awards ceremony
shortly after all the racers have cleared the course.

we are also offering, the Ray's Cycle Steeze Photo
Contest: on the course.. there is a small (about 2ft tall)
table top jump off to the right. It's located about 3 miles
into the course. there will be a sign before the jump and a photographer
there taking your picture on your first lap. If you are
confident in your jumping skills hit the jump with
some style and ease "steeze", get your picture taken
and win something from "specialized". Prizes to the top
three steeziest jumpers.

oil up that chain, put the pressure in the tire
and we will see you saturday morning...

looking forward to saturday...the 2011 rockhopper classic team,
mike fine, greg anderson, mike posey, frank sisernos,
justin english, bob drowne, patrick garner
and laurie fenech
