Questions on Kingsburg crit & Skills Clinic
Wed, 08/25/2010 - 6:04am
Question 1: There was an e-blast delivered on Tuesday (08/24/10) afternoon by SBOnline. Did you notice the Kingsburg Criterium ad?
Question 2: Regarding attendance of the Kingsburg crit for you and your team (I realize assumptions are made regarding “others†intentions), are you considering it or not considering it?

Steve,
The scheduling meeting is in November. A note will go out in late September soliciting race/date requests. There is no agenda nor cabal related to scheduling. If you would like to understand the process better, including how conflicts are resolved give me a call.

So, you all aren't into polls. No worries. I got sufficient feedback locally. We have to $ for the event, including all cash prize list. we are definitely going forward with this. My main concern is putting on a good show for the KG Rotary who first asked us to put on this race to coincide with their harvest festival. The better "the show", the more likely we will be able to move the date for next year. Speakling of which...
This race takes place after the scheduling meeting. No worries, we will do the best we can with what we have to work with. There has been previous discussion on the central valley getting edged out of god dates by multiple and competing races on the coast and up north. I have a different perspective what I recall has been debated in the past. One can not fight market forces including demographic distributions, successfully. I believe we (central valley) have to develop/increase our own racing demographics, and we have been doing this. We have 4 main local teams each with various levels of increasing memberships. We have local races, mostly VP (thank you VP) along with locally orgainized races from merced through Bakersfield. We also have a 4 or 5 race cx series in Fresno as well as mtn bike races, I am aware of, down through Pertoerville. As long as we (central valley) nurture our growth with steady even progress, we will be able to support our own efforts monetarily, i.e. sufficient race reg's.
In terms of scheduling, my main concern is to have sufficient NCNCA resources availalbe (equiment and Ref's - fortunately, we have a number of refs living i the area). Ok, time to get back to work.

Q1) I think I did see the e-mail and ad from SBO, but I had already seen the event listed on the NCNCA road calendar.
Q2) Sorry, but Kingsburg is too far of a drive from the bay area for me.
Good Luck, I hope you get a good turnout from people in the southern part of the valley or SLO.
