In Mexico, just south of Brownsville / Matamoros: http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/06/02/mexico.bikers.ap/index.html
That picture is shocking. The fact that anyone survived it, let alone almost everyone is surprising.
Be careful out there, even on a closed course car drivers have a way of sneaking past barriers, over cones and onto courses where they shouldn't be. Just as fast thinking and good reflexes prevented a tragedy when that kid ran in front of the break recently, so we should keep our eyes peeled as much as feasible for unexpected things happening.

In 1990 I was doing a stage race in Minnesota. During a road race I was at the front of a 100+ field when about 8 guys attacked, I jumped on the last single file wheel and behind me was the rest of the peleton. We were just coming off a slight downhill going into a gradual left hand turn at about 35mph when a Ford F-250 came in the opposite direction. Before I knew it the truck came careening into us, just missing me and taking out the rest of the peleton. Back to the kid running accross the street...what did we do? The racers that didn't get hit attacked! Including me and I consider myself to be a pretty humble guy. But, those who pointed out that you are not always in your right mind when you race are correct. Luckily that day only three people were taken away to the hospital and the race was neutralized for over an hour. Thanks for the reminder, be as heads up as possible.
