Mt Tam Hill Climb online Reg Open!

BoFax averages around 6% with a few steep pitches in the first 2k, then steady. I have a buddy who does the top half of BoFax in the big ring, but he's kinda crazy. On Ridgecrest, it's steeper pitches followed by fast rollers.
Also, don't forget the first flat 4 miles which are key to determining how fast a time you can get, though not really the podium.

If you view Justin England's data using the Map Player screen on Motionbased, you'll see elapsed time, speed & grade moment by moment for the entire course. Click the link on the race page for "view detailed stats on the course" and then click on Map Player.

It's over 10% for a few stretches along BoFAx.

More on Tam

Visit the updated race page at http://www.californiaroadclub.org/tam for more race info including topos, a MotionBased dot race from Justin England's record-setting ride, and a bunch of photos of the Seven Sisters.

To answer some FAQs we've gotten by email:

I'm a Masters Cat 4, what should I enter?
We changed the 35+ 1/2/3 race to 1/2/3/4 so a 4 who is a good climber can see how they do in the open category. The winning 4/5 time is usually competitive with the 1/2/3 time. The fields start at the same time (staggered line-up) but will be picked separately.

Where do Masters 5s race?
All 5s race together this year and we have an overflow field so should have enough room (pre-reg recommended). If we mixed 4 & 5 in Masters the field limit would have been 75 and we're trying to accommodate as many Masters 4s as possible.

(Not asked yet but...)
Where are tandems & Clydesdales?
We skipped them this year due to low interest in recent years.

What's the difference between Public & Cat 5?
The public race is meant as a purely fun event that doesn't count towards upgrades -- a little more low-key. Both will be timed and run on the same course.
