the Elite 4 field was sold out in Early April. April - the day of registration I got in 30+ requests for either category upgrade or switching to Isabel Creek. With each request another person filled that slot. When we collated the numbers to waivers we had 100.

My guess is that some chose not to show up due to the small threat of rain, or perhaps the fire on summit road worried some about smoke being present. Luckily for us the weather & fire worked in our favor and it was a great day of racing for both the cyclists and the volunteers.

I couldn't help but notice the inordinate amount of registered non-starters in the E4's (over a quarter of the field). Are guys just saving spots in case they feel like racing the last week in May?
