I'm hoping some additional clubs/promoters will consider offering to host the master's road race champtionships next year. It sure would be nice to have it closer to the bay area for a change and I'm guessing the fields would be larger.

Pescadero, Leesville, Panoche?

Masters District RR Championship Course 2011?

The Masters Criterium Championships was moved to Pleasanton this year because another promoter (Ron Castia) stepped up and put forth a bid. The 2011 scheduling meeting will be coming up in a few months and I hope that more promoters bid to be district championship races.

I am very fond of the Diamond Valley & Minden courses, but I agree that it's nice to mix up the venues a bit.

Hosting the masters road race would be a challenge for many venues considering how many different fields there need to be and the length requirements for different age groups. Courses with long laps (such as Pescadero & Leesville) may have difficulty making races an appropriate length.

Per the USAC Rulebook (http://www.usacycling.org/forms/USAC_rulebook.pdf) Page 214, the recommended distances for each age group are:

Men
30+ 85-110 km
35+ 55-100 km
45+ 40-90 km
55+ 40-80 km

Women
30+ 30-80 km

I won't rehash all of my points from last year's debate, but I certainly agree with Rick.
