Looks like there will be several new clubs in the NCNCA territory next year. Already USAC has processed club memberships for 7 brand new clubs and there are probably more new club application that haven't been processed yet.

Hopefully everyone will take the time to welcome riders from these new clubs to the NCNCA racing community.

Lots of New clubs

Just an update on this thread. We are now up to 23 new clubs in NCNCA territory for this year. A number of these new clubs are high school mountain bike clubs. I guess this is an influence of the Nor Cal Mountain Bike Racing League. Some of the new high school clubs that have joined USAC this year are.

San Rafael High
Branson High School MT Bike Club
Casa Grande High School
San Marin High School
Calvary Chapel High School
Terra Linda MTB Club
Saint Ignatius
College Park High School MTB Team
Georgiana Bruce Kirby Prep School MTB -> missed them the first time I posted this.

Road clubs in the areas of these schools might want to keep their eyes out for potential new junior road racers.

Re: SF VELO

We will know all the details by next week. For now our website is:

If you are going to be forming a new club then it is a bad idea to name the club after a sponsor. When you name the club after a sponsor it means you have to change the club name every time you change sponsors. If you club is incorporated ( which it should be for liability reasons) you have to go through the paperwork to change the club name with the secretary of state's office every time you change sponsors. It is a better idea to have a general club name that isn't attached to any sponsor and then have a team name that can be named after who ever your current sponsor is. Through the USAC web site you can add any number of teams to your club. Also note that only sponsored clubs ( clubs that have either promoted a race or have helped another club promote a race) can be named after a commercial business.

A new team based in the San Francisco Bay Area is Cycles Gladiator Racing Team. (registered club name: SF VELO) We are currently recruiting riders in all categories and we have a great roster so far. Our website is:

Lots of great benefits for members, mentoring from older riders with many years of racing at the Professional level, and a fun vibe. Feel free to contact us about joining, training rides, skills clinics, coaching, etc:

Teams that target particular categories

Jesster's club has the right idea by targeting particular categories. New clubs that claim their focus is on ALL categories may not be able to serve all their sub-team needs. Even now the district has clubs that focus on juniors, women, masters, cat 1/2, or cat 3 riders. (Some won't let you race if you don't fit their profile, and that's fine.) New racers should know the distinctives of your club and race team, not just their fancy jersey or their favorable locale. That way they can make an informed decision and not be as apt to switch clubs/teams mid-season.

Don't forget one (very) old riding club reborn as a new racing team: the Eagle Racing Team.

http://www.eaglecyclingclub.org/ERT.html

The Eagle Cycling Club started as a racing club more than 100 years ago, running road races from Napa to Vallejo.

The newly-formed ERT is a group of racers from Napa, Benicia, Fairfield, Vacaville and Berkeley. We have a strong Cat 3, 4, 5, 35+, 45+, women's and junior's program.

This year we hope to bring the Cherry Pie Crit to the comfort of Downtown Napa, and to offer a new mid-summer classic: The Benicia Town Race presented by Cytomax.
