Nothing on the road calender for 2007, since no promoter has come forward yet to organize this race. Any clubs out there willing to host the road championship? The most sensible date would be June 9th, since it follows their Criterium and TT yet precedes both Track and Road National championships. Having it later in the year would be less of a draw, don't you think?

Out and back course closed to traffic

Empire Mines Road is now completely shut off from motor vehicle traffic. It is 3.4 miles one way from gate to gate (6.8 miles round trip) and the road is in fair to good condition. Mesa Ridge Road in Antioch is the north border and Deer Valley Road is the south border in Brentwood. There is 0.2 miles before the top of the hill that could be used for staging. Parking could be on city streets, near a park 1/2 mile away, or at Contra Loma Regional Park 1.5 miles away. This is a safe place to ride; the only threats to your safety are the ground squirrels and pedestrians.

The Juniors 10-12 could ride 2 laps for 12.4 miles, the Jr 13-14 could ride 4 laps for 24.8 miles, and the Jr 15-16 could ride 6 laps for 37.4 miles. About 1/3 of the course is flat, 1/3 rolling and 1/3 hilly (comparable to Cantua Creek's finish). Any club out there willing to do it? Personally, I'd like to see ONE race on the calender within riding distance of MY house.

Junior District Road Race

it shouldn't be in the middle of summer like it traditionally has been because some families travel during summer and some people travel to race during the summer. I like the end of may or begining of june time-frame
