Calling all Easy Riders!

Metromint Cycling is pleased to invite you to a spectacular evening at the Parkway Speakeasy Theater in Oakland, as we host a showing of the two-wheel classic Easy Rider benefitting Bay Area Women's Cycling and the Northern California High School Mountain Bike League.

Date: Tuesday, June 27, 2006

Time: 9:15pm (doors open around 8:30pm and tickets are available at 5:45pm as soon as the box office opens – we expect a full house so please come early!)

Where: Parkway Speakeasy Theater (1834 Park Blvd., Oakland CA); http://www.picturepubpizza.com

Cost: $7 at the door (be sure to bring extra money for pizza and beer at the theater) – $2 from each ticket will go to B.A.W.C. and the Nor Cal MTB League

Who: Anyone and everyone (21 and older) who wants to encourage more women and juniors to race bikes. Bring your friends, bring your team!

Why: Because you love cycling and want to help nurture its growth in two rapidly growing groups: women and juniors. Please come spend a fun evening showing your support for two wonderful volunteer organizations doing their part to help the Bay Area cycling community grow. For more information on B.A.W.C. and the Nor Cal MTB League, please see their websites (http://www.bawcycling.com & http://www.norcalmtb.org).

We will have a place for equipment donation! The Nor Cal High School MTB League aims to make cycling fully accessible to any interested student, regardless of income. We all know that this can be an expensive passion, and we often have a lot of "spares" hanging around that we're reluctant to part with. Now you can put it to good use – we will be accepting donations of new or used clothing, gear, and components/parts for both road and mountain biking at the door (in good working condition, please!). Clean out that workshop/closet/garage for a good cause; everything is appreciated and will be distributed to juniors in the League who can put it to good use.

There will also be a free raffle for all attendees with prizes from Metromint and Oakland bikeshop Montano Velo. We'll see you there!

Don't forget!

Just a reminder that this shindig is tomorrow night! Come out for a classic movie, pizza, beer, friends, and a couple of great causes.

See you there!

Movie choice

The Parkway has a relatively limited selection of movies they can get rights to while keeping their ticket prices as low as they do. Easy Rider was the closest we could come to a cycling movie, plus it garners a full house nearly every time it's been shown there...

Besides, it's a classic and benefits a couple of great local causes! Even if you've seen it a thousand times you should come out and watch it again.

At least she did not spoil the movie by listing the entire plot in her message...

a.) Odd choice
b.) Never seen it
c.) Now I don't have to

So, just so I'm clear, you are showing the lighthearted '60s romp starring Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, about a couple of dopers on bikes, who ride around the country in search of sexdrugsandrockandroll...? Interesting choice.
