In case people missed the post in the thread about the Aug. race changes.

OK Robert Leibold just found out that the planed controlled burn at Fort Ord scheduled for next weekend has been cancelled. This means that we have a 10.5 mile loop, with a short section of two way race traffic, that we can use for the race. The decision has been make to hold the Fort Ord race as scheduled and keep the championships at Fort Ord.

Sorry for the confusion but there shouldn't be any more changes re Fort Ord now.

I came up with 9.6 miles but wasn't sure of the turnaround on Eucalyptus.
Here's my crude rendition.

If you zoom at the right place on Watkins Gate, you can see a CCCX mtb or cross race in progress!

Thanks for the profile.
So, it's just those 2 little climbs each lap, not too bad.

But if for some bizarre reason you want to do a race that is guaranteed to come down to a bunch sprint, your best bet would be to race the P1/2/3.

Thanks, I've been working on my sprint.

It was either this or the Marin Century, and Fort Ord had a lower entry fee and I still get to ride 105 miles! :D

What's the course like?

Is there anyone who can provide more detail than this:

Course: It is a 10.5 mile loop , not going anywhere near Laguna Seca. The roads are: Watkins Gate, Gigling, 8th, Parker Flates, Eucalyptus to west out and back to east, and Hennekens Ranch back to Watkins Gate. Start on Watkins gate near the old Army Travel Camp just off West Camp Road. The course does not include the Wall on Barloy Canyon, or the bad turns from Hennekens onto Eucalyptus (it goes the other way). Eucalyptus is being used in both directions, one lane each separated by yellow line.

How many hills? How long/steep? At what points on loop?

Thanks!
