The epic tribal battle, coming to you in 3D!
I don't need to be El Lawrence, but can I please at least be Sharif Ali?

You know, he does sort of resemble Betonte. Or maybe Dan Smith.

12 Morgan Stanley
12 VOS
10 Wells Fargo
7 Webcor
6 Bicycles Plus/Sierra Nevada
6 Davis
5 Safeway/Bicycles Plus/Simply Red

and a cast of other assorted uglies and barbarians.

It's MAYHEM in the hinterlands, fellas!!

Actually, not scary during the race either. It was tongue in cheek. Next time I will post a smiley face to help out.

Just WAY too much good stuff here to resist commenting.

Now you're making us feel like bullies, Green. We're not so scary once the race is over. We are just mortal men, like you. (Although I'm starting to wonder whether Tony Reid actually ages).

Sure, we're underdogs and people will naturally favor us over the mongrel hordes.
Did you see "300?"
How about "Three Musketeers?"
"Blues Brothers?"

Does it even matter? Let's face it looks like another race between Morgan's Tan Legs and vOS. The rest are cannon fodder...

What's up is that Bicycles Plus in Folsom is an incredibly generous shop and unsurpassed in their support of cycle sports in this region, sponsoring two great teams and some very worthy charities. Neither team is domestique of the other; but we do have a hell of a lot of respect for that team.

As for cannon fodder, nothin' can be fodder from da truth.
This zebra LOVES the dynamics at play. I just can't wait!!!

Every team has certain individuals who are "The Man" and individuals who are not "The Man".

Learn who they are and be in the right move. If you find yourself in a break with a Morgan Stanley rider and Morgan Stanley is on the front driving the pace...he ain't "The Man".

Same goes for any other team. A solo rider can play off this if he rides smart.

In 03' myself and Scott Schaufelberger riding for VSRT went up against what seemed like 15 Morgan Stanley riders and 50 others at San Ardo. Jokingly I told MS at the line...Hmm, 2 against 15...I think you need to go back and get some more guys.
I wasn't far off, Scott won that day with me leading it out to the base of the feedzone hill.

Good times!

Ron

You mean like Hunter's all star cast of Reeder, Pugh and Z himself?

there is not a USAC rule that defines what percentage of the field one team may comprise in an individual event (versus a team-based event like many NRC races). I know that 25% has been suggested in the past as a guideline for NCNCA races.

here's the latest post on the topic from Tom Simonson, USCF Trustee and local official (and responsible for much of the current legislation in the USAC rule book):

is there some sort of NCNCA rule about limits to teams?

I seem to remember reading that a team can have no more than 25% of the field -- correct?

Also, check out the lead up to Merco RR -- Cantua & Snelling looking like some serious head banging.
