For those people who are interested in demographics information I have updated my demographics page at http://www.sonic.net/~caseyk/demographics.html I have added the year end information for 2003, 2004 and 2005. Note that I update the demographics page every Friday morning with the latest information from USCF. Promoters who are trying to figure out what categories to offer might find the demographics information useful.

Too much old blood? It's a trend long in the making:

The total number of juniors is so small in our district that anything can cause a huge percentage size change - just one club I think was responsible for a big part of the jump in numbers for juniors last year.

Promoters not only hold races to make money (or not lose money) but also to encourage growth and sustain the sport. Otherwise, based on demographics alone, there is not much support for holding races for juniors or 12 women.

IMO, it's neither good nor bad. Sure, if the biggest percentage of new riders were juniors then that would be the best case scenario, but otherwise it doesn't matter. Racing your bike is "the new black" or "tennis in the 70's". These days, it's actually much easier to get into a race as an Elite rather then a 35+. A lot of older folks are attracted to the sport because they start to care about their health and about maintaining a healthy heart and weight - makes sense.

No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood.

I've now added DEmo Info from 2002 which was the last year of the NCNCA license program.
