Cougar Mountain Race Weekend prize list

Was it just the Men 45+ 1/2/3 Circuit Race field or were others categories confused about their prizelist? The website said 8 places deep, the starter said 8 places deep, but the prizes only went to the top 3! Why would a racer who isn't in the top three want to continue riding this grueling course? Had I known, I could've withdrawn after being dropped and driven to the velodrome and raced there. When I found out I'd already suffered 90 minutes and it was well past 3 o'clock--to late to get to the velodrome in time. Next year I'll likely opt for San Jose, even though it's TWICE AS FAR FROM HOME!!

And what's up with pulling large chase groups on the last lap? Our guy suffered through the 45+ 4/5 race just to be pulled on the last lap, when there were no other pelotons within minutes of theirs! I mean, there were only 25 registered in their race, and only a handful were permitted to finish. Rip-off.
Frankly, in what way is Cougar Mtn. not just a rip-off for roadies? Paying a bundle to park and a bunch more to race circuits on hot, smelly tarmac -- just to get pulled or screwed out of prizes (as if tires or tickets are real prizes anyway) is just bunk.
I guess that's why the fields were tiny. And why I wouldn't even drive from Napa for this one.
Same thing happened in the Women's Cat 3/4 Circuit Race. The top 3 went home with tires and the rest left with nothing. The officials told us that the organizers screwed up and would be mailing prizes to the rest of us. Just in case you were wondering what the prizes are, they're Nascar tickets.
