In regards to the recent changes made to Cherry Pie: Is there some kind of rule barring a changing of a race flyer close to an event? I remember at the Pacific State Bank GP there was some issue over this. Also, I think it is misleading that the online race flyer doesn't get updated, and some people are to be made aware of changes to the schedule by word of mouth. Again, don't race flyers go through an approval process, so isn't it against the rules to change the schedule after a flyer has been approved?

David -
This change was discussed with and approved by Casey Kerrigan and the Chief Race Official prior to its inception. I will be changing and posting the amended flyer tomorrow when I go to work and have access to those files, but I wanted to notify the parties involved at the earliest opportunity, which is tonight.

It's a nice discussion of legality, but I wonder: What is your real complaint?

I've had scores of e-mails from juniors and their parents desperate to get into this race, and very disappointed that they'd be missing the first race in the Points Series. So at great inconvenience to our volunteers and the race officials, we are going to try to make the race more accessible to the expanding populous of junior racers.

I recognize that the race is shorter, but there's good news: It's cheaper, it won't be a mixed field, plus you can race a second category later on, and it may be raining so a shorter race may be a blessing.

Generally, it was a judgment call. I believe it's going to please a lot more people than it will displease.
