Geez, whatever happened to applauding DIVERSITY?

One could validly ask, rhetorically, the reverse:

Is there any reason to INCLUDE those nine cat 1's in this particular race?

Why shouldn't the Old-guy Cat 2's have one or two races in which they are the favorite sons? Oh, the horror! The horror!

Are Cat 1 ubers suddenly a protected class that requires the resonant complaints and cries of our most prolific curmudgeons?

Let them race in the 35+ 1/2/3's for a couple of races! Big deal! If they are truly still Cat 1 caliber, they have a talent advantage there anyway.

It is not written anywhere that all racers of a certain age MUST race together, regardless of skill level. So get over it.

ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY AND WE CAN ALL BE HAPPY SOMETIMES.

The Mother's Day race in Monterey also shows 45+ 2,3,4.

Not only that, but they eliminated the traditional Women 3/4 category to accomodate the 45 2/3/4.

That category attracted almost 40 women last year. I guess thats not enough.

There are 3 races for a 45+ cat 4 male, but not a single race for a Cat 4 woman (and please no one give me that "they can race with the men" bullshit)

Cat's Hill is a marquee event for our region and I am disappointed that we can't send half of our team to it.

PeterPen summed it up nicely...
"Gerrymandering race categories so good (but not really good) geezers have a better chance of winning."
