It's true, Cal Aggie has hibernated and Apple Pie has frozen.

But the crystalline gem of winter, the harbinger of spring, Napa's own Cherry Pie Criterium returns for its twenty-somethingth year on February 10th!

Remember last year, when an epic week-long tempest gave ho to a single merciful day of brilliant springtime sun?

Remember Freddy and the whole BMC squad and Ben and a cadre of stars flying around the storied hairpin on Heartbreak Hill?

Remember how Tina Pic and her Colavita/Sutter Home squadron sent volley after volley across the hulls of the womens' peloton, but were finally bested by a cannonball named Brooke?

At the beginning of the spring season there's always a rainbow stretching across a corporate park in Napa. At the end of the rainbow there's a cherry pie waiting just for you.

So there isnt anyone to step in and take care of it? From my experience all the categories sell out and there is no overhead for prize money just premes. If I were velopromo i would try and get ahold of this one. I know its probably more complicated than that but i was really looking forward to this one.

I also got word from the race director that the race is cancelled. Due to 'an incident at a mountain bike race earlier in the year' which caused the club to lose its sponsorship by the student acitivities center.

Too bad, that is usually a fun one.

No rumor so I have been told.
