Burlingame Almost live
Sun, 06/24/2007 - 6:58am
Yes we have free WiFi so during the day we will be posting top 10 results and other news from the race. The Cat 4s are staging and we will ber starting the first race on time.

Great stuff, Casey! I had to skip out immediately after my race and it was great to read how it all went down.

And the memorial day Crit in Morgan Hill also had live web coverage one year. Phil Aaronson was way ahead of the times back then and the person who helped get the NCNCA web site off the ground way back when. I have a photo somewhere of me announcing and Phil typing on his computer at the track. Of course the track had an advantage for live web coverage since there was a landline we could plug into giving us that blazing dial-up speed new access :)
Casey knows this, but about 10 years ago we had live web coverage for the racing on Friday Nights at the track.
Personally I think I want to learn how to walk first ( getting better at the text race coverage) before trying to run ( ie radio coverage). Think I'm going to have to spring for the wireless card and data plan for my lap top so I can be sure to have internet access at most of the races.
This live coverage is really cool and hopefully it will be part of NCNCA in the future - enhanced of course.
We live in Northern California with some of the best high tech companies in the world! Hopefully we get a company to help enhance live coverage on the web on local racing or our own local channels to cover races.
How about radio broadcast, like football game coverage? That's good enough for me, too!
WAP technology for local race updates on the road for mobile devices.
Can I get this forum on my mobile phone? Just curious.
ps: cycling fan
very, very cool.
thanks, Casey.
FYI the Burlingame results have already been posted with a link on the NCNCA Rd page.
Thank you Casey,
The play by play response was so much fun to read and engaging.
It kept me from doing some gardening. The breaks, the gap,
the chase, the wind and your personal touch made it very
animated, just like being at Burlingame to watch. This was
the best online race review yet.
Thanks again.
Very cool! :D
Ok Glad to know at least some people were following along today. some day I should stop being so cheap and get a wireless broadband card for my computer so I know for sure I can do on site race race reports and advertise the fact in advance :)
Casey,
This is better than what they can do at the Velo News live updates for the Pro races in Euro! Way to go! Now, all we need is the live video! Thanks for the good updates...they kept us all paying attention and wanting to refresh our pages!

Next time the riders come to the line they will be seeing 10 laps to go.
Good sprint for our second prime. Julie Granshaw won the second prime in the Pro Women's race.
25 minutes remaining and with 2 riders off the front the prime bell is rung again. One of the riders off the front is a Proman ( sorry I didn't see the number though).
The two riders who had been off the front were catght and Sarah Lightfoot from Metromint takes the prime prize.

Kerlin wins the first prime and the officials ring back to back primes. Kerlin still slightly off the fron with one other rider.
1st prime for the women. Sarah Kerlin has a small lead going into this prime lap. Then fast early pace has already seen some riders falling off the back of the pack.
The final race of the day for Pro women is underway. Again Grand Marshal AJM started the race with a blast of the starting cannon.
The Mints go on the attack early as Sarah Lightfoot from Metromint is off the front by herself at the end of lap #2.

With 7 laps to go the prime bell is being rung for the last time. The prime is a grab bag of goodies valued at $100.
Rand Miller is off by himself and he picks up the last prime. Cakl Giant at the front of the pack chasing.
Rand Miller and Alberto Blanco are the two riders in the lead now. Trun 5 has seen another accident in the 1/2/Pros. This time it sounds like the race doctor will be needed at the crash site.
9 to go and the race is together at the front. Again we have riders off the back who go caught behind the accident trying to chase back on.
The break is looking a litte ragged. two riders and then a gap to the next 3. The gap is 9 seconds.
Next time the riders cross the line they will see 10 to go.
20 minutes to go and another prime. 5 riders with a gap as the pack is mostly back together after the crash. Looks like no one was seriously hurt and only about 3 riders still off the back. Looks like the riders off the back have given up the chase and will join the spectators to watch the race finish.
Jamiel Raze Danesh takes the prime. He is one of the riders in the break.
reza Danesh
Prime #4 has been announced with 26 minutes to go. The break has fallen apart. We now have 2 riders off the front with two chasers and then the pack.
Looks like we have had a major crash as about 15 riders have just made their way to the free lap pit. A number of riuders are now chasing off the back due to the crash which reportedly happened in turn #1
1/2 way through the race and still the gorup is all together. There have been a couple of times when a small group had a very small gap crossing the finishline but by the time the leaders have reached the first turn the pack is back in contact with the leaders.
Jim Mattis with about a 3 second gap off the front.
Our first real break as 6 riders are off the fron with two chacing and then the pack. The break is about 7 seconds up on the pack. The officials want to ring a prime but the announcer is surrently off line due to a bad Mic connection. Promoter Tom Simpson is doing double duty on the Mic today.
7 riders in the break with a 7 second advantage.
Prime #3has been rung and Darin Divine was at the front of the group. about 35 minutes of racing left.
And Darin holds on to win the prime as the field was strung out from the first turn to the finishline.
37 minutes to go and the pressure is on at the front of the field. The field is still together but it is well strung out and some gaps are starting to appear in the long line of 1/2/Pro riders.
Prime #2 has just been announced. Vince Owens from CVC was the leader of the pack on that lap. The wind is kicking up a bit and it looks like a nice tailwind on the start/finish section.
Joe Iannarelli took the Cliff Bar prime in another 1:35 lap.
15 minutes gone in this 60 minute race for 1/2/Pro men. Still no attacks yet ( at least ones that have made it to where we can see from the Start Finish line). but the field just turned a 1:35 lap.
Prime #1 has just been rung with Brian Buchholz leading the field.
92 riders have started the Pro mens' event today.
Tim Granshaw from MOrgan Stanley takews the first prime in a lap time of 1:36.
Not a lot of action in the 1/2/Pro race yet. Rob Evans at the front at just under 10 minutes into the race.

About ready to start the 1/2/Pro race. AJM will be firing the special start Cannon. Looks like a full field for the 1/2/Pros.
And with a loud bang we are off and running.
The break survives and Laberge takes the win with Copeland in second. Top 10 in a bit.
Webcor drives the field and the gap down to 5 seconhds. Lots of heads looking behind them in the break going into the bell lap.
2 to go and the gap is 11 seconds. Jeff Poulson from Safeway at the front of the field trying to close the gap.
Clint Gaver from spine cuts another second out of the lead of the break. with 4 to go the gap is 5 seconds.

At 6 to go Dean Laberge takes the last prime and the gap is 13 seconds to the pack
