Benicia DOWNTOWN Race 6/27/2009

Negotiations were tough, but the Benicia Town Race is now in the heart of Benicia on a new date (6/27/09). Race through Benicia's downtown First St past the original capitol building of California, and into the historic district through Victorian Neighborhoods. The event also will feature music, food, kid's events, business give aways and all the amenities of a downtown race!. This year we are proud to be part of the BAWC series as well Our Website will be updted in the next day or so, http://www.beniciatownrace.com, and the race will go live soon. I definitely had to look at this map 5 or 6 times. Each time I was thinking "this is a terrible idea" and "I better bring my camera". Then: I finally got it.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a bit of a tilt to it as well, plus the wind?!? TREMENDOUS!!
I realize that you've been working hard for years to get the Downtown to open up the main thoroughfare for the route ... Great job!!!
Everybody should race this one! It's going to be one of the A1, 5-star, classic days on the calendar, a la Davis 4th / Giro di SF / Burlingame.
