BAR/BAT UPDATE

Is there going to be a 2006 BAR/BAT? If so, when will it get updated?

BAR/BAT UPDATE

Idea...
Use some of the USCF $10 rider district rebate to pay for a BAR/BAT Coordinator. If somebody is getting a little money for it, they are more likely to keep it up to date. When things are 100% volunteer, people tend to put it on the back burner if they get busy.

BAR/BAT UPDATE

I have to Echo what Mike said.

Having been around since the mid 80's and racing more than my fair share out of district I have to agree that the NCNCA is one of the better regions and has been for a long time.

Now I'm sure there are some who would like to see the BAR/BAT go away my guess is there would be ten fold wishing it to stay and become better than it is now.

Solutions are found by those who look for them......

Re: BAR/BAT UPDATE

Just like to chime in that I'm a fan of the BAR/BAT rankings and hope they continue in whatever form possible.

I can't suggest a format or anything constructive to this thread other than to say I think it's very cool to have regional competitions.

While BAR/BAT is hip - my favorite are the district championships. I was lucky enough to win a district crit title last year and will definitely wear my championship jersey as much as I can in that particular event. I hope other riders do, as well - because i think we should take pride in our region's quality racing.

I've had the good fortune to be able to race around the US a bit and NCNCA/Nev really does have an amazing amount of affordable/epic/varied racing that a lot of other regions don't.

I think we should take pride, not only in our BAR/BAT competitions, but all of the other fun things that highlight our region and show off the deep talent pool we have here.

From masters to juniors to pro level racing - there are few better places to race one's bike than our region. And, as anyone who was at the Apple & Pie crits this weekend can attest - the racing is uber-fast this year. I'm always sorry to hear about crashes in fields, but I'm glad to say I saw a lot of very good, aggressive, fun-filled racing out there, too.

I especially dug the 30+ cat 3/4 women's event at the Apple Pie crit. It was a kick-butt race with tons of attacking and a slam-fest field sprint at the end (won by Taitt Sato). Promoters might want to take note of the size of that field when they look to scheduling their crits in the future.

oh ... and sponsors might want to keep looking at all those women buying new bike stuff as they enter into and develop in our sport.

BAR/BAT UPDATE

I have to say that there was plenty of conversation going on about the BAR/BAT being cancelled for 2006 because it was too much work. I for one do not understand this take AT ALL. If fact, I emailed a few folks in order to volunteer some manpower but received very little response.

My take: If BAR/BAT is too much for someone to handle then fine, but at the very least be open to mentoring a new person to learn the system... preferrably one who also has the time to get the results right, respond to emails, etc. We have a lot of racers out here to which the BAR/BAT is a huge incentive and very important. We are NOT short on manpower.

To the powers that be: PLEASE DELEGATE. It's absurd that we have this great system in place but someone is not willing to release this to someone who can take responsiblity for the entire package.

p.s. Yes I know it's huge pain because the promoters for races don't properly report the results.

No single raindrop believes it is responsible for the flood.

I think there are still a couple of races still to be added to the final results.

BAR Final?

Hello--I noticed that BAR points have been updated. Are these final for '05?

BAR/BAT UPDATE

It is being worked on but since most promoters don't submit results in the format used by the USCF national ranking system results have to be typed up into a spreadsheet format so they can be used by the BAR/BAT program
