Here is a thought......
coming from a woman cat 2 master (frequent) racer
Dear Road Race Promoter,
women pro 12
master women 35+ 123
women 3
master women 35+ 4/women 4
Is there a promoter willing to change the women 35+
field into a women 35+123 field. And let the master
women 35+ cat 4 race with the elite 4's and picked separately.
This way master women can competitively race with their competitors
with similar skilled levels.
If the master women 35+ 123 field was offered consistently, I bet
there would be many takers.
Can ya give it a try?

Quote:How about the women's master category being a 30+ that way more women 1/2s could race twice in one day?
My idea is directed toward road races, not criteriums;
although the idea could be attractive to promoters (criterium)
who support female fields/racing (like Lorri and Robert Leibold).
How about the women's master category being a 30+ that way more women 1/2s could race twice in one day?
This topic comes up fairly regularly with respect to the men's M45+ field, which is usually an open field with 1-4's or 1-5's. Some of us would like to make it M45+ 1/2/3. It always turns into a heated argument with no resolution. Many of us have brought up similar, seemingly logical points as Laurie did here. At some point in the discussion Casey usually chimes in about how your Category is respective of your skill level regardless of your racing age, so if you don't want to race with 4's and 5's then there are other choices; in our case Masters 35+ 1,2,3 and P1/2. He usually adds in something about your Category not being a lifetime achievement award and if you can't cut it anymore then you should downgrade. It will be interesting to see what happens here. huge fan of this idea!
Thank you Lorri, I appreciate your
attitude and response. Robert L also replied
and said he will start with the women master 35+ 123 field
at Cal Cup (be ready ladies, teams)...
Mostly this request is about competing safely
with peers with similar skills. We are also hoping that
road race miles are not reduced to a minimum. We appreciate
the miles and safe, skilled racing.
thanks again for the upbeat reply, Lorri.
