Any Spring Hill Refunds???
Sun, 04/11/2010 - 12:31pm
It was raining cats and dogs in Petaluma this morning. I didn't bother leaving the hotel to drive to the race. Did the race go on, i don't recall seiing rain or shine on the flyer? Any chance of refunds or rescheduling the race. An inquiring mind would like to know

Menlo Park was also memorable, epic, cold, wet. Couldn't shift at the end, my fingers were so numb. Being a crit, we stayed a lot warmer than you fools up at Spring Hill.
Viva Chris Hipp!
I only race in the rain when it's 85 degrees, dirt roads that dip through lake like puddles with leaches in them, long stretches of bouncing along railroad tracks, and carrying the bike on your back across slippery railroad bridges with rushing white water below.
Racing in cold rain on roads is for crazy people.
Ron (might be a Tico) Castia
every race is rain or shine otherwise the promoter would go broke. I was there officiating, taking some time off from racing until the allergies pass. Anyone who toed the line and finished is a hard man (or woman!).
I was totally unprepared clothing-wise. I wore a long sleeve skin suit with a wind vest over it, then my regular jersey & I had short finger gloves. I should have worn a rain jacket & full finger gloves. After about 20 min I was chilled to the bone & couldn't get warm no matter what I did. By the end of the race my jaw was sore from my teeth chattering the whole way & my arms were numb & sore from the shivering.
I guess I'm glad I did it once, but I never need to do that again.

Wow! I'll wait and watch the video. I almost needed oars driving home. Big props to the he-man that toughed it out. I did catch up on some much needed sleep :D
I learned a few new tricks from other participants about how to get creative w/ jerseys and jackets. You missed a memorable race.
Beyond classic. A hardmans race for sure!
Staying home would have brought nothing
but regret!
....and it was epic. We rode in honor of Paris-Roubaix. Soaked from head to foot and weighed 10lbs more at the finish. Wrung out all my clothes into a bucket and have enough water to wash my minivan.
It was worse driving home.
They held the race.
