2007 USA Cycling Junior Development Camp
Sat, 11/25/2006 - 10:31pm
USA Cycling's 2007 West Coast Junior Development Camp is scheduled for June 17-22 at Sonoma State University. For athletes in Northern California, qualification will be linked to the NCNCA Junior Points Series.
For more information about the camp, please visit http://www.usacycling.org or contact Claire House at norcalvelo@yahoo.com.

We are aware of the conflict, but unfortunately the scheduled dates were chosen so that the camp begins after the majority of juniors are out of school for the summer but before it might pose a conflict with tapering for Junior Nationals, L'Abitibi, etc. Velo Promo knows about the conflict and we discussed the idea that kids might be able to do both (if they're not too tired!). Skills based activities will end on Thursday, so kids could leave the camp early and get to the stage race on Friday for an afternoon start to the race.
We had similar conflicts last year with kids racing Nevada City on the Sunday the camp started; several of the athletes raced Nevada City and then drove down to the camp, checking in late (no problem).
We don't want the camp to detract from the junior racing in NorCal; the camp's purpose is to support and enhhance regional programs. We hope that by aligning the qualification requirements with the NCNCA Junior Points Series, we can work together with local development programs and race promoters to support what we already have.
Thanks!
Gold Nugget Stage race for the Jrs. was awesome even with the low attendance. It even brought a rider form So Cal. up to ride.
In Typical Velo Promo style all the riders had a good time. Even thought the time trial course was a up hill sprint. The kids loved it. My son is already talking about this years race.

Unfortunately, the dates of the development camp overlap with the
only junior stage race scheduled in the NCNCA area, the Gold Nugget Junior Stage Race,
which is scheduled from June 22-24:

Any chance that this conflict could be avoided?
