About USA Cycling and the NCNCA
USA Cycling (USAC) is the designated national governing body for the sport of cycling under the umbrella of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). All Olympic sports follow the rules and regulations set forth in the USOC charter, and competitive cycling in the United States operates within this structure.
To better support riders, officials, promoters, and events across the country, USA Cycling divides the nation into regional districts. The Northern California Nevada Cycling Association (NCNCA) is the USA Cycling–recognized Local Association for the Northern California/Nevada region.
Whether you are new to the sport or a world-class athlete competing at the National, Pan American, World, or Olympic level, you participate within the support framework of USA Cycling, the USOC, and your Local Association — the NCNCA.

What the NCNCA Does
The NCNCA is a nonprofit, membership-based regional athletic association that supports competitive cycling and community-building across Northern California and Nevada. As the Local Association for USAC, the NCNCA is responsible for:
- Coordinating and publishing the regional calendar of USA Cycling–sanctioned events
- Supporting and training USA Cycling–licensed officials
- Assisting promoters with event permitting and post-event reporting
- Maintaining and providing event equipment to local promoters (finish-line cameras, timing equipment, traffic control gear, laptops, etc.)
- Managing the region’s BAR/BAT season-long competition and race results
- Supporting safety, fairness, and quality at all sanctioned events
The NCNCA’s ability to provide these services relies heavily on the support of its member clubs.
Membership and Club Support Levels
The NCNCA is governed by an elected Board of Directors. Member clubs contribute directly to the association’s annual operating budget. These contributions enable the NCNCA to maintain equipment, develop officials, run series competitions, support riders and promoters, and deliver high-quality racing experiences.
Clubs are invited to join at the following levels:
- Gold Level – $500+
- Silver Level – $250
- Bronze Level – $150
All levels directly support the NCNCA’s mission: to maintain the highest standards of organization, safety, inclusion, development, and competition for riders, promoters, and the broader cycling community.
