1996 Prison City Cyclocross Series
Hosted by Carson City Cycle People and Reno Wheelmen. and held under BLM
Permit
Dates: Second Sunday of January, February, and March (January 14,
February 11, and March 10). Registration opens at 10:20 a.m. and closes
15 minutes before each race. Races will be held snow, rain, or shine.
Place: Minden, Nevada. Johnson Lane gravel pit. From the intersection of
US 50 and US 395 on the south side of Carson City, take US 395 south
about 5 miles to Johnson Lane. From Minden take US 395 north about 5
miles to Johnson Lane. Go east on Johnson Lane to where it turns to
dirt (about 3 miles), then watch for signs on area being used.
Equipment: A bike with knobbies. An ANSI or Snell approved bicycle
helmet. Riders can bring spare wheels and bikes for their use during
the race.
Course: Approximately a 0.9 mile loop of rolling terrain with obstacles
forcing dismounts, including uphill running sections, and off-cambered
riding sections. Course is 100 percent dirt-sandy to rough.
Entry: $12.00 (fee includes all surcharges). $5.00 for 14 and under. No
additional fees for late entry.
Prizes/Points: Each race, medals to the top five in each category. For
overall series prizes (to top three riders), points earned in each race
will be used. Omnium rules will be used to break point ties. Points
will be awarded as follows: 10, 7, 5, 3, 2, and 1 point for remaining
places, first place will always earn 10 points. Points earned count
half if transferred to another category.
