It's not
the off-season, It's Cross Season! Your
invited to attend two great clinics about one of the hottest events in
cycling: Cyclocross!
The in
store clinic will be followed up by an "on course" clinic Saturday
morning, October 4th at 12:00 pm, at the Super Prestige series'
Milagra Ridge course in Brisbane. Get a
chance to pre ride the course the day before the first race and learn proper
cross technique from experienced cross riders.
If you
already do some competitive or serious recreational cycling: Road Racing, MTB Racing, Tri's, etc., cross
is a great activity to keep your base fitness going in the Fall and Winter
month's. Furthermore, if you've never
done any competitive cycling, it's one of the best ways to get started. Here's a brief rundown of additional reasons
why you might want to try cyclocross this season:
- 2003 /
2004 is a watershed year for cross in the Bay Area. A new, UCI cross series, the Bay Area Super Prestige Series has
been added, in addition to several other established events. There will be races every weekend, and most
are 10 to 30 minutes from the City.
- Improve
you bike handling and fitness!
- Minimal
time commitment - cross races only last 30 - 45 minutes.
- Safe -
cross races are on a combination of dirt and pavement, with sections of
off-bike running (barriers, run ups, etc) and speeds are considerably slower
than road racing. The likelihood of a
crash at 35 mph in a pack is virtually nil.
- Friends
/ Family can actually spectate and get involved! Races are on a short circuit course, making it fun and exciting
for friends and family to watch and cheer!
They can even help out by handing out water bottles, spare wheels, etc.
- Minimal
investment in equipment to get started - in most cases, you can get started in
cross without having to invest in lots of new equipment.
- Pro
support from Big Swingin' Cycles - BSC is a sponsor of the Super Prestige
Series and will provide on course support and pit services to customers.
Call or
come by if you have any questions. If
possible, please RSVP if you plan to attend either of the clinics. Look forward to seeing you soon.
