This course is at about 5,000 ft at the transition from ponderosa pines to
sagebrush, Steve Peterson uses this course for his cross training. I was out
there this afternoon and there was about 4 inches of snow covering the
course. While I was there I saw Steve and he said that if the snow stays that
he would be out there midweek running the course with his snowshoes.

Prizes (for Dec 8 race): A's 6 places, $155; Women 3 places, $60 + medals top 5. Other prizes
remain the same.

Start Times: Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at Noon. Races will be held snow, rain, or shine.

Locations:
Hidden Valley Regional Park. From I-80 on the east side of
 Reno/Sparks take Exit 19, East McCarran Blvd. Go south on East McCarran Blvd.
 about 2.5 miles to the traffic signal at S. Rock/Pembroke. Turn left (east)
 on to Pembroke Ln., and go about 1.8 miles to Parkway. Turn right (south) on
 to Parkway and follow signs to parking.

Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. From I-80 in Reno take Exit 13,Virginia
 Street. Go north on Virginia past Lawlor Events Center. Turn left at the next
 traffic light (on to North Sierra Street). Go south on N. Sierra St. about
 0.25 mi. taking the first right, which takes you into Rancho San Rafael.

Callahan Regional Park. From I-80 in Reno take Exit 15, US 395, go south
towards Carson City. On US 395 south take Exit 56, Mt Rose/North Lake Tahoe
(End of Freeway). Go west on Mt. Rose highway (State Route 431) about 3 miles
to Callahan Ranch Road. Turn left onto Callahan Ranch/Callahan Road, go south
about 1.5 miles to the park, on the right side of the road.
 

Equipment:  A bike with knobbies, no bar ends. An approved bicycle helmet.

Courses: Approximately a 1-mile loop of rolling terrain, using dirt and paved
 roads, and obstacles to force dismounts.

Entry:  $12.00 (fee includes all surcharges). $5.00 for 18 and under. No late
 entry fees.  NCNCA license required, $2 per day or season license 18 and
 under $5 and adults $10.

Series Prizes:  Top three overall Beginners, top 3 overall Intermediates, top
 3 Women, and top 3 overall Advance.

District BAR Categories:  Junior Men, Master 35+ Men, Women and A Men will be picked separately for district BAR points. These categories race concurrently with the A, B, and C events as listed in start times above.  To be picked for district points you must race in the appropriate event (i.e. Master Men racing in the As will receive A points but not Master points; Juniors racing in the Bs will not receive Junior points, etc).   Make sure you identify yourself appropriately to registration staff.

CYCLO-CROSS CLINIC
 What:   A clinic covering the fundamentals of cyclo-cross, including
 dismounting and remounting, and how to negotiate off-camber, run-ups and
 other course features. Instructor: Dave Eastwood
